two great tastes that go great together.

You know the best thing about having a kid? Sure it's emotionally rewarding. I get that whole miracle of life thing. The fact that there is a person that is part you is pretty sweet, but that's not what I'm talking about.

The best thing about having a kid is that you can play with toys. On top of that, you can buy toys that you want to play with. Luckily for me, there is a cyclical life span t toys. Companies will take them off the shelf for certain periods of time so that interest and nostalgia will kick in and create a demand for those toys.

Legos and Transformers were my faves as kids. Those never really went away, but Transformers recently re-released the original lineups for some of the more popular original transformers. The ones that I had when I was a kid. Like the original Optimus Prime. I got my hands... ahem... I bought the reissues of some of them for my son. Yeah. That's the ticket. Anyway, I played Transformers with the kid, and although he's too young to be able to transform some of the guys 100% (for 3.5 he does an amazing job), his motor skills and problem solving are definitely better than most kids his age because of these toys (either that or he's just way above average naturally... but he is my kid, so you see the conundrum.. genetics vs. environment). But that's not the focus...

Legos are sweet too. I used to play for hours and build huge things out of them. I once made a space shuttle out of the pieces. It was as tall as I was at the time. Nowadays, Lego has done some pretty cool things, like partnering with Star Wars to release little Lego sets of really cool Star Wars ships and the like. So my kid and I play Legos almost everyday.

I had a thought a week or so ago though. What if Lego partnered with the Transformers? If this happens I really want a piece of the action. It would be huge. I love the idea of being able to build things that change into other things, so I gave it a shot. below are some pictures of what I came up with with my limited resources. And to the finished product's credit, it's still together a week or so later. My kid hasn't destroyed it yet (that is an amazing feat).

Here is the vehicle mode picture:

and here it is in robot mode:

Obviously, not the coolest thing ever, but I love the concept. Let me know what you think. Lego, make this happen.
